DS4 - FASCU 234: WEEK 13

Torso progress

I reworked the bottom of the sculpture quite a bit this week. The 'block' bottom is now gone and I raised everything up a bit to give the bottom of the sculpture some breath. Might push it up bit more next week as I move to final to accentuate a more asymmetrical lower body termination.

Most of the rest of this week's work was in refining and correcting forms around the piece. I did a ton of work on the back and shoulders - these are difficult areas in general for me, but with the extreme and asymmetrical arm positions, the back gets piece-y really quick. I'm trying to get the anatomy plausible but also try to tie the whole shoulder area together and also connect it with the opposing shoulder at least rhythmically. Lots of work to do, but I like how things are starting to look.

I'm intending to take this piece to a little more smooth finish, not totally without tool marks, but generally smoother than now. That's the plan today anyway!
