Standing Figure, progress
Well, my flight to Venice was cancelled and my new itinerary pushed up my departure date by a number of hours. Panic ensued and I had to pack and race to the airport without finishing as much as I had hoped on the figure. Did make some good progress on the lower legs and feet as well as the head. I also pulled out the dremel and modified one of my boxwood tools to look like your examples -- now my favorite tool! Most of the figure got a once-over with this tool, but the more I do the more there is needing to be done! I will continue to work on this piece when I get back in the states.
For now, posting from the British Airways Lounge in Heathrow, this week's progress:

On a side note, I finally found a kiln on craigslist -- it's a Cress and fully programmable, also pretty large for a ceramic kiln. My first firing project is going to be the portrait head. To that end, I spent some time hollowing out the sculpture and removing the armature & butterflies. Definitely some flashbacks to the movie 'Hannibal' here...

Planning to let the sculpture dry out for at least a week or two, then fire away!
It was actually pretty easy to hollow the portrait head out and remove the armature; wondering how to go about doing the same for the standing figure? Or is this even possible?
