DS6 - GDS MODELING 801: WEEK 5

Dived into rigging up the female model this week. While zsphere rigging isn't a difficult process, things do tend to go wrong and there's not much I've ever run across in terms of trouble-shooting available when things just don't work. I made the mistake of doing a fully-detailed rig this week before checking that the mesh would bind properly... and it didn't. You poke around a bit but at some point you just call it and start over as I had to. The second iteration went well though.

I wound up adding more zspheres to the face area during the posing when I discovered some distortions along the way, but for the most part things seemed to go well and I was able to do both preliminary female poses:

Went back to the male model / rig and worked through preliminary poses on all 3 male characters for the piece:

I can already tell that the corrective anatomy sculpting needed across all these figures is going to represent a staggering amount of work. But i'll be getting going on that this week as I pull all these figures into a single zbrush file and position them on the proxy vessel geometry.
