DS5 - GDS MODELING 801: WEEK 15

This week I worked to detail out the Atlas figure. Re-worked both feet and hands as well as the anatomy on the legs and arms.

The more detail I add, the more I feel like is needed. But I'm pretty happy to have gotten this far with a complicated piece in just one semester. The full piece:

Still need to do some work to get the pieces properly set up for a better Keyshot render.

TOUGH BUT GREAT SEMESTER

I basically started my thesis over from scratch, even having to backtrack through remedial zbrush videos.

- Created all new base meshes for the male and female.

- Learned a new IMM process for generating better meshes more quickly in zbrush.

- Finalized and detailed both base meshes.

- Learned zsphere rigging and posed up Hercules and Atlas.

- Created final hard surface geometry for the base and cup components.

- Learned enough Marvelous Designer to create cloth pieces for both characters.

- Created eye geometry and hair sculpts for both characters.

- Invested a ton of time on corrective anatomical sculpting.

While my overall thesis progress isn't where I'd like it to be relative to Final Review, this has been a great semester in other ways. I think for the first time I feel like I can actually accomplish these incredibly difficult pieces.

For the first time in this journey I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Some very nice work done for this semester. Appreciate that you started your thesis over from scratch. Appreciate the dedication to correct base meshes for the both the male and female. The corrective anatomical sculpting does look good.

Also noted that you are honest with your self critique and agree with a good many of your points and observations. Very pleased to see the progress you have made and it is also noted that you considered this a tough and great semester. Very impressed with your dedication to the modeling craft. And quite appreciative for the critiques you have made to your fellow classmates.

Your work has come a very long way from where it started this semester. Good to see your renewed confidence and do wish you the very best for this thesis. You have put forward some very accomplished modeling sculpts that are both organic and hard surface based models.

Very much looking forward to seeing your completed and finished modeling work for this thesis. Would be an honor to attend your final review and wish you a wonderful break after this semester. You earned it for sure.
