DS5 - GDS MODELING 801: WEEK 6

Week 666

Let's refresh, here's where we were with mr. base mesh last week:

The body was still underway, but I did spend quite a bit of time last week getting the head detailed out. I pulled in that .ztl file this week and here's what it looked like:

Oh yes, that is my maya base mesh with just two levels of subdivision applied. All detailing GONE. So I thinking, did I save the file somewhere else? Possible. Initiate frantic hard drive, external drive, USB drive search for any .ztl files with a later date stamp. NOTHING. NADA. So, come to grips with the harsh reality that most of the week's work time will be retread. The universe is clearly telling me that I need more sculpting practice. Who am I to argue with the universe?

The head detailing definitely came out better the second time around:

As did many of the torso shapes:

I spent quite a bit of time on the hands, feet and lower body, though more will definitely be needed after posing:

And so alas, the goal for the week to get this guy both detailed AND posed shifts to next week.

And now for the sad punchline: A few hours into the redoing of all this work I realized that zbrush was indeed automatically doing incremental saves. Had I searched for ".zpr" instead of ".ztl" I would have found my work safely backed up on the hard drive. Sadly, by the time I realized this, the autosave functional had already overwritten all 10 incremental saves with this week's redux work. Given the improvement from last week, could be less karma than serendipity methinks!

INSTRUCTOR FEEDBACK

This looks a lot better. The only thing that looks off is the upper back. The deltoid shape should be going straight up the the spine of the scapula. Looks like it is curving. Define the traps more clearly going up to the scapula.

Definitely, looks better this time around. Something is still odd about the eyes in relation to the nose.
