DS3 - ANM 375: WEEK 8

Little Miss Penny

Spent some time this week diving into additional reference research for Penny. Because Penny was only a secondary character in one Disney film from the 70's, there's not that much out there compared to a Warner Bros cartoon character or a modern animated film character. Mainly I just needed to find some additional angles and insight into volumes / shapes, and I think I found enough to fill out Penny in the round.

I did find one Disney collectible maquette that might be of some assistance as I work on the piece; we'll see.

Got a good start on Penny's armature this week. Wanted to try something a little different with the armature - a removable head! This is done but using two different sizes of brass tubing that slip into each other. Basically it allows for the head to be removed from the body for sculpture work and then returned via 'keyed' alignment.

INSTRUCTOR FEEDBACK

great medusa in the sculpt ref - Penny feels a little generic here

good start on armature - notice the nice twist her body has in the reference. keeps a sculpt from feeling static.
