DS1 - GDS MODELING 801: WEEK 3
Week 3 Progress
This was a tough week for me -- Mandatory overtime all week & both weekend days at work too :( Hopefully the crunch will be over soon else I will need to start updating the old resume to move on!
Great feedback from last week -- I didn't get as much done as I wanted this week, but I was able to translate my topology research and all the feedback and suggestions I've gotten into some great improvements to my base mesh.
I did some more work on my all-quad ear mesh to clean it up and reduce poly count so that it would tie into my mesh without causing issues:

I did a ton of work on the head to re-route the geometry flow. Shaun's link to the work of Sergi Caballer was really helpful. Great topology there and the timelapse videos into his process were so illuminating. Still some things to clean up, but I'm much happier with how this head is flowing:

Lastly, I started working on re-flowing the chest area. I decided to try to flow the edge loops up his torso and down the arm as well as across the chest per last week's feedback. I like how this feels somehow:

I have some catching up to do this week to finish this model up and get the female base model knocked out, but getting the topology sorted out now will help that second model down the road.
INSTRUCTOR FEEDBACK
Geometry of the ear looks good.
Hard to see what changed on the new topology. Please make the images bigger and next to each other. Top to bottom will get shrunk inside the window.
Yes, that is much better topology for the armpits!
