Johnny has been working on some fused glass projects over the last few months and we soon found ourselves in possession of a pretty nice glass kiln. With all the scraps of pretty colors lying around I soon found myself dabbling in the medium.
I ground up some extra glass scraps and frit to create these roughly autumnal color background blocks. These are fused at 1430 degrees for a full fuse. I then cut them into pendant and earring pieces on the tile saw.
The first line of designs is based on bamboo. I designed a series of bamboo motifs that were converted to gold decals. These are placed carefully on each piece and they are then fired again for a full fuse to fire polish and round out all the edges.
The final first batch, finished with all the fittings applied:
I did a ton of research on fittings and materials, finally deciding to go with gold-plated leaf bails and earring wires. I wanted a more 'natural' feel to the necklace portion, eventually finding a good source for high-quality leather bolo cord.

I registered a new domain: www.alariglass.com to market these at some point. Still some technical issues to resolve as well as branding to design
before going live. Also need to do some research in social media marketing.
