BRONZE COATING TESTS

Been looking at potential finishing techniques for my polymer clay sculptures. Stumbled upon a company from some youtube videos that makes bronze coatings and patinas; turns out the headquarters is about 2 miles from my office in Escondido.

The process is as simple as covering the sculpture with two coats of black primer followed by 2-3 coats of the bronze coating. It's real bronze powder suspended in a medium, so after the coating dries it can be burnished back with a little steel wool for a bit of a shine. With metal particles exposed, it can also be subjected to a patina agent for some neat effects.

Intial test piece, bronzed with tiffany green patina. White clay sculpture next to it was original finish:

Penny, bronzed:

Addition of black wax final coating pops out all the small details and yields a nice shine.
