SIDE YARD TERRACING

Another project long in the works. The hold-up on this one was finding keystone retaining blocks that matched the existing walls and settling on a final design. Orco made the original wall blocks and after some digging, I found a source to order keystone blocks from the same manufacturer.

Preliminary layout:

First off, the area needed some serious cleanup. It's long been the dumping ground for project debris and dirt. This needed to be moved and the main firepit area leveled out:

The drainage from the back yard also needed to be completed and run through and under the new terraced area:

Ordered the block, 90 of them:

Final terracing, slightly different from the original design:

The line of blocks running behind the fire pit serves as a step / footrest for the wood bench and also winds around to retain the bamboo planting areas up to the right of the greenhouse:

Still some downstream clean-up work to do and some extra dirt to find a home for at some point.
