This area was one of my first project areas on the property. The retaining wall that runs around the perimeter of the backyard takes a jog on the north side of the property as a sharp elevation change drops off into the corner of the wall. I shored up the wall on the neighbor's side and humped dozens of loads of dirt from a far corner of our property to fill in and level out this little lookout area. The walkway that now runs the full length of the retaining wall around the backyard started with this little patio project 8 years ago.
Over the years all the fill dirt has settled and weeds have taken over. The back portion got a bit ripped up when we re-did the fence along that side of the property:
