This semester's AAU class has been a real challenge: Organic Modeling 2. It's a deep dive into zbrush with the expectation of 'industry-quality' work from the get-go. The midterm project was to model the bust of a recognizable person. I chose Edward James Olmos from the Battlestar Galactica era:
In addition to the zbrush head sculpt, we had to do a full re-topo and UV of all all subtools, create materials and maps, and complete render passes for final composite of the three views. It was a tall order given that this was due week 7 and we just started really learning how to use the program in week one! This is composite directly from zbrush, which is definitely not a great program for rendering. I could see pulling this model into VRay or at least Keyshot later to get a much more realistic render. The hair is just a sculptural element, also not ideal, but my brief experiments with Fibermesh and Xgen weren't promising within the time constraints of the project.
