This bench was originally created from a piece of wood left with this house when we bought it. We think it was part of an old boat. Johnny and I created the supports from concrete and fashioned the bench from half of the wood piece. I put a number of coats of marine shellac on it, but after 8 years in the elements, the bench was starting to fall apart:

I had to pry everything apart, clean up and sand all surfaces before I could glue the bench back together again:

Got everything re-glued, but for some extra insurance I add drilled holes laterally through both ends of the bench and added these threaded rods to keep the edges held together:

Re-installed the bench, then gave it one final sanding in prep for the resin surface application:

Poured a good half gallon of resin over the surface and let it cure:

After a day's wait, the final surface still looks wet but it's actually solid:
