JAPANESE GARDEN BENCH RETREAT

Dug the footings and poured concrete pilings for 6 x 6 post brackets:

Verticals and seat support structure added:

Roof structure installed:

Johnny putting in the roofing shingles (leftovers from house facade sidewall shingling project):

Staining completed. Stone for bench added (found this piece of greyish-green granite in a dumpster outside a dealer closing shop. Bench concept designed around this 104" x 14" remnant.) Hardy backer board covering lower bench structure, prep for ledger stone. Bought those two large stepping stones at KRC (270 lbs total!)

Leftover ledger stone from several house facade projects. Didn't have any corner pieces left over, so I had to cut and piece those carefully myself. First time installing this type of material and learned a lot.

Dug out the stone pathway AGAIN. Last repair lasted maybe two weeks when a torrential rain storm came through, overflowed the gutters and washed most of the hill into the pathway. Hopefully new plantings will hold the hill better this time...

Completed project: Installed new irrigation, started the planting process, washed and re-installed the white rock pathway.
